HOUSE FLUFFER

Everybody knows of Chitra’s reputation for unending furnishing rearrangement. She clearly does not want anything to stay still! You can find her wheezing while dragging heavy chests of drawers through rooms or grunting while struggling with too-large armchairs or sofas. She will carry them up and down stairs single-handedly! Observing her lurching through the corridors and doorframes and often hauling the furniture by just one leg, the rest of us are all sure that she must take some sort of bizarre pleasure in the physical exertion of the struggle and the dismay on our faces as we step back just in time to avoid injury from the flailing limbs of the object in question.

The hilarious part is that she cannot decorate, creating mismatched and chaotic spaces for which you might wonder if your eyes deceive you. One afternoon, I spotted her carrying a couch by herself down the street, trying to squeeze it through her front door with her perseverance and angles. Good times! It’s funny. We all laughed, but you have to appreciate the effort, no? To create the most stylish space she can, that is. Chitra always has us laughing. Not least because she will carry any oversized piece of furniture.
