EPILOGUE
The first day of Syawal in Kampung Melayu, Johor Bahru, felt more festive than usual. The sound of takbir echoed through the morning air, filled with the fragrant aroma of freshly cooked rendang and ketupat. Families gathered, shaking hands and seeking forgiveness on this blessed day.
But for Aiman, Badrul, Johan, and Din, this year’s Aidilfitri held even more meaning—they had just solved the biggest mystery of their lives: the case of the missing kuih raya that almost shook the entire town.
The mastermind behind it all had finally been caught, and his grand scheme to monopolize the kuih raya business in JB was exposed. Surprisingly, Faizal—the kid they always found annoying—turned out to have crucial information that helped crack the case. As much as Aiman’s gang disliked him, they had to admit—without Faizal’s help, they might never have reached the end of this mystery.
"I thought I could just enjoy Raya this year, not become a part-time detective," Johan grumbled as he adjusted his purple baju Melayu.
"What matters is that we did something meaningful," Aiman replied proudly. "At least my mom’s kuih is safe now."
They all laughed, reminiscing about the bizarre events of Ramadan. From the bazaar Ramadan to Stadium Larkin, from the legendary roti canai stall to the police station that felt more like a comedy club than a serious institution, they had been through an adventure they would never forget.
As they walked home after the Eid prayers, Aiman turned to his friends.
"Do you guys think there’ll be another weird case next year?"
Badrul grinned and patted Aiman on the shoulder. "If there is, we’re the Kampung Melayu Detective Gang, right? We’ll always be ready!"
They all burst into laughter, strolling together on this bright and joyous Syawal morning. The sky was clear, the air was fresh, and most importantly—all the kuih raya were finally safe on the table.
But somewhere in town, a man in corporate attire and dark sunglasses watched the news report about the case they had solved. With a sly smile, he muttered under his breath:
"This is just the beginning."
