Chapter 2 : Zara Murad

''Zara is the baddest boss in the Klang Valley '' that was often said on the popular gossip blog sites on the internet.

Many asked me if I could not write about Zara, why didn't I write about Shazlin?

The answer was simple. If I had written anything about Shazlin, I would have to write about Zara. There was no way I could avoid writing about Zara because no days passed in La Nona were gone through without Zara.

However, 'cruel' is subjective. In my opinion, Zara was not as bad as reported. Personally, I think that she was actually a very good leader. She had an amazing work ethic. Her knowledge was vast. Her intelligence and efficiency were recognized by many. The only problem with Zara was the change of behaviour. Five years before what had happened, she had turned into an unpredictable woman.

Whatever people say about Zara, I tried to resist everything because deep inside my heart, I was actually very proud to be able to work for Zara. Every time I talked about my boss, I was really proud to tell everyone that I worked for 'Zara Murad'. Sometimes, when I thought about it, I felt like a crazy egoist who was willing to torture herself in order to boost her ego.

But that was not the only reason why I worked at La Nona. What I was thinking at that moment was that if I wanted to change my career direction, I was sure Zara and La Nona would be good for my portfolio.

Like everyone else, I was chasing my dreams. That got me up every morning and stepped into La Nona despite having to deal with Zara. Every day, I told myself not to give up easily. Be focused and tried not to take anything personally. After all, Zara was just an ordinary human who needed people like me to keep the company going.

In my opinion, Zara's unpredictable behaviour had got to do with her personal life. It was in fact in a mess. Her children were problematic. Sometimes, I could feel that it came from her consciousness.

She knew that she was unable to control what she thought belonged to her. She could not accept the fact that she had actually lost control of it. However, Zara still wanted to feel that she could control something. And that something was her employees who would never say 'no' to her. However, it became complex because the feeling of 'I'm still able to control' had changed to 'I'm still able to control and they want to be controlled'.

The one who was greatly affected by Zara's change of behaviour was Shazlin. If Zara was mean to her subordinates, she was ultra-mean to Shazlin. However, Shazlin had a very high level of patience. She tried not to pay so much attention on it and regarded it as a challenge. As someone who was closed to them, I felt that Zara's attitude towards Shazlin came from the fact that Shazlin had a good relationship with her grandfather, Mr. Haris, the founder of La Nona. In other words, Zara was jealous of Shazlin. There was nothing we could do than asking Shazlin to be patient.
